Hard to find straight answers to my problem on the forum. In this thread a CCP forum rep says it has fixed the problems, but not specific to my issue.
Anyway, I have the (Half Baked) Steam version. Logged in earlier and downloaded the patch auto. After update it said there was a crc error and I could not run the game. Clicked on a link to download from the site and that said it was the wrong version and I needed premium version. The web link said I could download the full client if it didn't work, but the full client was not the steam version. I couldn't launch the game anymore from steam, error every time. So now I right clicked on my steam game and choose to "delete local content" and then choose to download again. Downloading and will probably be an hour or two before finished. So I have the Steam version and Premium content version. Will this break my game again or has it been fixed. I'm on DSL so it takes many hours to go through and try again. Would rather know for sure before I start it up and break the game again. Thanks.

Well, deleting local content on steam and reloading/re patching game gives a crc error again. My friend also had the same problem twice in a row. Wish they could give the update through Steam like every other Steam game. That's kind of the point of the system in place...

Patching Error in file bin\DirectX\DXSETUP.exe. The specified file did not have the correct CRC. This indicates that your installation is corrupt. Please reinstall EVE-online.
Steam version. Both my friend and I are still getting this error. Deleted local content from steam, redownloaded, then same error on patch. Tried patch from site download as well as in-game. Updated graphics card drivers and directX. Can't start game.

So front page still has no news on progress with errors. Still getting CRC error. CCP has only responded to this post ONCE, so we are left in the dark wondering if it's worth trying again, or they haven't even looked into this error yet. Not only that, but when I posted on another forum to ask for help from the general community, they locked the thread and told me to post all related problems here. HERE!!! This is just a pile of repeated problems with no response from CCP, leaving us left in the dark. Hey, if you aren't working on something right now at least TELL US. I downloaded 3 times thinking they might have fixed the problem, because we have no idea what is going on. And we can't discuss it with each other either.

For anyone with CRC errors on the steam version, they are now gone. Not exactly fixed, but looks like they replaced the default download with the quantum rise full version. Have to delete files then re-download to get it. But seems like no one really cares about the steam version to let us know. I've been talking to support all day and they have NO CLUE what steam is. Just take the game off of steam. It's a major fail and most people deleted it now anyway. One of my friends starting paid the extra 10 for the first month just because of all the hassle.

What exactly should we delete?
Sorry, should have been more clear. Just uninstall the steam way (right click game and choose "delete local content"), then look in your not installed section and right click - install game. Then it will download the quantum full version.

Update on steam version. I just found that if you have the demo version it doesn't work. Same problem we were having with purchased one...wrong version is downloaded from Steam. Come on guys, pull some strings and get that file there. You are loosing new players.

Terrible lag as well. Can you just throw us a bone here? Even like "We are looking into it and have yet to find the problem" would be better than silence. Silence makes us think you aren't even concerned about the problem.

I agree with the heated graphics card problem. I have a 7800GS that I overclocked to play Left 4 Dead. When trying to play eve with the same clock settings I instantly saw artifacts all over. So I set it down to factory, however the heat on it was still 70 degrees and rising. To stay at a normal 40-50 degrees I had to underclock it below factory. In comparison, playing Left 4 Dead with a very high overlock (all settings turned up) it still stays around 60 degrees with no artifacts and that game has a lot more going on in the graphics dept. |
